Athens Cultural Center Presents: Third Saturdays Free Film Series at the Riverfront Park with free popcorn provided by The Stewart House. Specialty cocktails will be available at the River Grill with a portion of proceeds going to the Athens Cultural Center.

Saturday 5/20/23 Showing: War of the Worlds

After much anticipation, the Athens Cultural Center is bringing back its Third Saturday’s Free Film Series with a stellar line up of films on its slate.

The season will kick off with Steven Spielberg’s version of War of the Worlds (2005) on Saturday May 20th, in Athens Riverfront Park located at 4 N. Water Street. The ACC is looking to connect with local residents who were a part of the 1000+ extras that were in Spielberg’s film to take part in a pre-screening Q&A. Shooting took place Dec. 6th – 9th 2004 and completely transformed the village. For those who would like to participate please reach out to be a part of this one of a kind evening in the village.

Films in the Third Saturdays film series are scheduled to begin at sunset with rain dates set for the Sundays to follow.

The Third Saturdays Free Film Series was made possible with funds from a regrant program of the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of the Office of the Governor and the New York State Legislature and administered in Greene County by CREATE Council on the Arts.
