David Chernack (guitar, mandolin, fiddle) is a lifelong musician, Hudson Valley resident, and steward of
bluegrass music. With a strong classical music background, caught the fiddlin' bug during childhood and
hasn’t been able to shake it since. While most at home in the world of bluegrass, David is a proficient and
innovative fiddler, mandolinist, and guitarist across multiple genres. He can be heard playing with multiple
Hudson Valley-based outfits including Grass Valley, New Breaks, Too Blue, Long Steel Rail, Strawberry
Wine, the Hudson Valley Flyers, and County Line Bluegrass. David is also the president of the Hudson
Valley Bluegrass Association.
Scott Hopkins (banjo) became interested in bluegrass and banjo music by listening to recordings of Flatt
& Scruggs and The Stanley Brothers that his dad played while he was growing up. At 15, Scott started
taking private banjo lessons and joined the school band on tuba to fully immerse himself in the study of
music. Scott has played banjo with a variety of bands based in New York State and Vermont over the
years and currently has his own trio project featuring original, roots, jazz and everything in between. He
released his first, self-titled, solo banjo recording project in 2013, and his second project in 2023 - an
album of duets with music friends and heroes titled “Just You” - both to critical acclaim. Scott currently
teaches 5-12 Band at Duanesburg Central School District just west of Albany, NY and also teaches
jamming and banjo at Wernick Method Bluegrass Jam Camps, Banjo Camp North, The Ashokan Center,
and at Fiddleheads Jam Camp throughout each year.
