Spring has sprung!!

Mother Nature has finally rewarded us with warmer temps and what’s that big yellow thing in the sky?  … THE SUN!!

Spring weather arriving has had HUGE impacts on the projects getting done at The Stewart House!! Out with the old yellow and in with the new!! As we say goodbye to the old paint job we welcome the  spring flowers popping up in our garden beds at The River (formerly known as Happy Jakes). We like to say that our boutique hotel rooms have been restored rather than renovated. Fresh coats of paint have been applied and new heat/hot water/ and AC systems have been installed in each our of 9 rooms. Beds have been upgraded, antique furnishings restored, as well as plenty of new, fresh, and fun pieces added to each room.

To be truly Athenian and in homage to our Majestic and Mighty Hudson River, we’ve deemed our outdoor garden bar and restaurant just that… The River. Our vision is to provide a casual environment with nothing less than excellent food, refreshing  drinks, great live entertainment and stellar company.  Sneak peak at our newest outdoor feature… the grill, where all the magic happens.

Welcome to The Stewart House Restaurant…

Our inside dining room is half way thru its own restoration process and the biggest upgrade by far is our leather banquette seating. Certainly makes for a much more comfortable dining experience and far increased seating capacity.  Our goal is to not only restore the building back to its hay day, but also the business. The Stewart House was once known for exquisite food and full dining rooms. We hope to evoke the spirits of the past and strive to impress future guests of our establishment.

Let there be light!

We are just in love with our new barroom lighting fixtures. A soft and comfortable  glow for an intimate dining experience, and just enough to perfectly compliment the freshly restored and completed murals originally started by the artist Nora Johnson in 2007. Make sure to pay special attention to the historical details Nora has recently added.

Lons Corner…

Hi Folks

We are so excited about the reopening of the beloved Stewart House next month. We are trying our best to do a good job and to make sure we dot our I's and cross our T's correctly.

It has been such a pleasure to have gotten to meet so many locals and we have been overwhelmed by their support and kindness to us. That part will never be forgotten.  If we slip a little from time to time, we will listen closely and adjust ourselves accordingly, you can rest assured of that.

Lois and I have been so impressed with the group of people we affectionately call Team Stewie, who have helped to guide and support us through the renovation process. A team of bright young women who constantly go the extra mile to make sure we keep moving forward in a positive direction.

We look forward to getting The Stewart House open very soon and for ourselves to become an even bigger part of beautiful Athens.

So thank you all for your stories, ideas, wisdom, and support. It could not happen without you …Sincerely, Lon.
